Ambrositsch - (Archived)

The multi-talented Jutta Ambrositch only started making wine in 2002. In 2001, she was walking through the Wieninger vineyards with her friend- winemaker Fritz Wieninger- who wondered when Jutta would start making her own wines. Jutta had been working as a graphic design artist and decided that she was ready for a change. Fortunately for her, Wieninger, her good friend and mentor, donated a vineyard to her in the Nussberg district of Vienna to get her started. Ambrositsch quickly distinguished herself as a winemaker producing some stunning examples of Viennese wines. She makes only six cuvees and from these only 500 cases are produced annually.  She follows biodynamic principles (though not certified) and she makes and bottles her wines in Wieninger’s facilities. Since the initial donation from Wieninger, she has purchased other vineyard sites on the Nussberg hill, including several with old vines. The Nussberg is a choice site; a large hill located in the north west of Vienna (west of the Danube) and the terroir is fossilized with seashells from an ancient Pannonian sea. She uses all stainless steel and stirs the lees. These wines are nothing short of amazing and we expect that they will be allocated in the near future as soon as her wines are discovered by collectors. Ambrositch has designed her own distinctive labels and on each bottle it states “mit Dank on Fritz Wieninger” – thank you to Fritz Wieninger.
