Drouhin-Laroze - (Archived)

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze was created in 1850 by Jean-Baptiste Laroze on a parcel in Gevrey Chambertin. In 1919, a marriage brought Alexandre Drouhin who owned vines in Chambolle Musigny into the picture (a distant relation to Joseph Drouhin.) And thus Domaine Drouhin-Laroze was formed. Drouhin-Laroze is now composed of 11.5 hectares including vineyards in the most prestigious appellations of the CĂ´tes de Nuits from Gevrey-Chambertin to Vougeot.
The grapes are hand-sorted and matured 18-months in barrel. Grand Cru wines are aged in new barrels, Premier Cru in 50% new barrels and Villages wines in barrels that have been used once before. Wines are bottled without fining or filtering on-site. Overall production is 46% Grand Cru, 14% Premier Cru, and 40% Villages.
