Philip Togni has been producing outstanding and highly sought after Napa Valley wines since establishing the Vineyard in the early 1980’s. He has been described by Robert Parker as “an irrefutable source of remarkable Cabernet Sauvignons that last 20-30+ years!” A true family estate, Philip works along side his Wife Birgitta and Daughter Lisa and uses only grapes grown on their own 25 acre estate on Spring Mountain where they also live. Because of their dedication to handling all aspects of the winemaking the wine is always labeled “Estate Bottle”, meaning simply that the wine is crafted and bottled by the Togni family on premises without outside influence, the way wine used to be made.

82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Cabernet franc and 1% Petit Verdot Winemaker notes: The 2006 weather was perfect for growing grapes here on our ten-acre vineyard at 2000 feet on Spring Mountain overlooking the Napa Valley. All our wines are made from the grapes we grow and are therefore “Estate Bottled.” Harvest proceeded smoothly, the wine was put into 40% new Nadalié and Taransaud barrels by November, underwent its traditional seven rackings and was bottled after 20 months during August of 2008. The composition is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Cabernet franc and 1% Petit Verdot, reflecting the way the vineyard is planted. We copied this encépagement from the commune of Margaux in the Médoc, where Philip worked during the mid 1950’s, and it has worked very well for us. I am confident that our ‘06 will take its place in the near future as a worthy peer of vintages like our ‘94, ‘95, and ‘96 and the later ‘01 and ‘04. Robert Parker-Wine Advocate Dec. 2008-95+ pts “The wine has fabulous fruit purity, full-bodied richness, sweet but prominent tannins, and a glorious long finish of 45+ seconds. This is a fabulous 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon that should again, like almost every Togni Cabernet Sauvignon released to date, evolve and improve for 20-25 years and possibly last 30 or more.”
