Chancelle - (Archived)

Lydie and Thierry Chancelle are a very enthusiastic winegrowing couple. In 2000, they took over the family’s (from Lydie’s side) estate, which gave them the chance to work in their proper vineyard and cellar. This estate comprises 14 ha of vineyards (8 Ha planted with Cabernet Franc and 6Ha with Chenin Blanc). The Vineyards as well as the estate are located in the commune of Turquant, just next to the Loire river and close to the famous castle of Montsoreau, where the Vienne joins the Loire. The vines are an average 30 to 40 years old. Mr. Chancelle cares a lot about the quality of the soil. He plows the rows regularly, cuts out grapes to limit the yield which therefore increases the sugar content of the grapes and starts the grape harvest once the grapes are perfectly ripe.

Saumur-Champigny 2008

The Saumur Champigny appellation only allows red wine to be produced under this designation, moreover it has to be exclusively made from Cabernet Franc.
