"Man and terroir have found their match here, and Weisskopf is sure to be recognized within a few years as one of the Loire’s elite vignerons." (Wine Advocate #172, Aug 07) In January 2005, after working four vintages at Chateau de Saint Cosme in Gigondas, Xavier Weisskopf bought 22 acres of vines in Montlouis, most of which were planted before WWII. He farms sustainable without chemicals, and his low yielding vineyards provide a wine with great concentration that transcends the appellation.

The Bertagna estate, under the direction of Eva Reh-Siddle, is entirely bio-dynamic. Their focus is on low yields from old vines with minimal intervention in the winery. The domaine has 21 hectares of prime vineyards in the Côtes d’Or including 7 premier cru sites and 5 grand cru sites.

Jobard views the 2006 vintage as “lively and with unusually good definition.” Highly regarded in the United States and France, it seems that the secret is out on these exceptional wines. All of the Jobard wines are limited in availability.
