Barbaresco Casot

2016

From the eponymous cru in the village of Treiso.  The 3.5 hectares of vines were planted between 1960 and 2012, facing SW at 350m.   Harvest was October 10th, 2016 at yields of 7,000kg/ha (48hl/ha). Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, with an extended maceration on the skins, 65 days. Aged for 2 years, the 1st year in 1000L botticelle and the 2nd year in 3000L botti.  Aged an additional 6 months in bottle and released in March 2019.  14,000 750ml bottles and 150 1.5L bottles made.

"Aromas of wild berry, forest floor, leather, blue flower and spice meld together with a cool breeze of menthol. The palate is delicious, offering juicy Marasca cherry extract, crushed black raspberry, licorice, tobacco and truffle alongside velvety, enveloping tannins. Drink 2024–2036"
