Barolo Boiolo

Boiolo is a rather extensive cru in la Morra, where Boglietti owns 1.95ha, E/SE-facing at 300-350m. Boiolo tends to be a bit more soft andimmediate than Enzo’s other wines. The vineyard for this Barolo was planted from a massale selection in 2002. Fermented in concrete with 80 days maceration; aging was in used barriques for 24 months. 6,540 bottles made.

"A ripe, layered Barolo with plums, cherries and hints of hazelnuts and flowers. It’s full with pretty tannins and a linear texture that draws out the finish. Drink or hold."

"This has some kick to its fresh cherry, strawberry, floral and mineral flavors. The linear profile is backed by a backbone of steely tannins and it finishes long. Just tips to the tannic side for now. Best from 2023 through 2040. 545 cases made, 108 cases imported."

"The 2016 Barolo Boiolo is a very pretty, fruity wine with lovely immediacy and appeal. Crushed flowers, mint, sweet red berry, orange peel and spice are nicely pushed forward. Succulent and open-knit, the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is one of the most approachable 2016s I tasted for this report."
