Barolo Case Nere
Case Nere is situated between the upper portion of Fossati and the open end of Cerequio. Soil is clay with large patches of loose grey marl. Exposure moves from south to east as the vineyard continues towards the township of Barolo. The site is sheltered 360 degrees (think of a cul de sac), which allows it to maintain heat; as a result this cru always delivers exuberant black fruit on top of the sturdy mineral backbone you'd expect from the soil there.
Sustainably farmed, harvested by hand and fermented with native yeast. 70% new French, 30% used French oak barrels for 15 months. Blended and aged in used large French oak casks for additional 15 months.
