"The 2019 Blau Cru is a white produced with Malvasía de Sitges grapes, the new grape in their property Can Comas, whereas before it was exclusively Xarel.lo and Sumoll. The plants are now 25 years old (they were regrafted) and come from the only vineyard that survived in Sitges. They first produced this in 2014, and the next vintage will be 2021, as they lost the 2020 crop to mildew. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in tanks with bâtonnage every 15 days for nine months. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.07 and five grams of residual sugar. This has a very peculiar nose, salty and spicy, not floral at all; in fact, it reminded me of chicken broth, umami, tasty and serious. This vintage is a bit of an exception, because it stopped fermenting and kept a few grams of residual sugar that, to me, was almost unnoticeable and the wine came through as quite dry and with the sapid, tasty, almost salty twist that all of their wines have. This is an aromatic Malvasía from the Mediterranean, but this is not floral and banal; it's serious and a little austere. I loved it. 7,850 bottles were filled in August 2020."
