Blaufränkisch Eisenberg Ried Weinberg

Eisenberg DAC Reserve. Out of a total of the 30 hectares in this vineyard, Wachter-Wiesler farms five, at an elevation ranging from 250-300m above sea-level. With iron-rich clay, the soil characteristics here are quite similar to those of the feet of the Eisenberg. Matured for 18 months in a single 2,300L barrel.

"From up to 50-year-old vines on iron-rich loam, the 2015 Ried Weinberg Blaufränkisch was aged for 24 months in 1,000- and 1,500-liter barrels. It displays lovely cassis, peppery, floral and crunchy slate notes on the pure, elegant and refined nose. Just beautiful! On the palate, this is a highly mineral, fresh, vital and finessed Blaufränkisch with a silky-elegant texture and a long, salty finish with grip and tension. Gorgeous!"

"Well-crafted, featuring a cashmere like texture, expressing a robust aroma of Turkish coffee and spice. The palate shows a mix of cassis, currant and licorice flavors, with an underlying iron note. Firmly structured and harmonious. Beautiful now. "

"A stunning nose of forest flowers, licorice, red beats and wet stones. A radical intensity on the sleek, cool and intensely mineral palate. Should gain even more harmony in 2020. Patience will be rewarded!"
