Chardonnay "Gap's Crown" Vineyard Sonoma Coast
Gap’s Crown is located in a cool and windy climate called the Petaluma Gap in Southern Sonoma County. This 32 acre plot of Chardonnay is made up of clay and loam soils and is very high in elevation so it is not negatively affected by the cool air.
The Chardonnay “Gap’s Crown,” was the first of its kind for the couple. Grapes were harvested and cold pressed/settled overnight. Wine was aged on the lees and underwent malolactic fermentation. Aged for about a year in new and French oak barrels.
The 2016 Gap’s Crown Vineyard Chardonnay is very citrus forward. Notes of apple, pear and peaches mixed with spicy and floral notes make for a very crisp and juicy wine. There is a slight minterality toward the finish to round it all out.
