Chassagne-Montrachet "Les Encégnières"

2016

The basic Chassagne bottling is made entirely from 50 year old vines in the lieu-dit Les Encégnières, which is shared by both Chassagne and Puligny. Though it is a large vineyard, only a tiny piece of Les Encégnières extends into Chassagne, just below the famous Bâtard-Montrachet. This prime source allows the Bachelets to make an exceptional village bottling of uncommon richness.

89-91 points
" Pungent if pretty and cool aromas of resin, petrol, floral and a host of orchard fruit scents. The sleek, intense and unusually well-detailed flavors possess very good mid-palate sap that coats the palate and buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting the balanced, long and delicious finale. This is a very good Chassagne villages and worth considering."
