Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc Brézème "Vieille Roussette" (Pergault)
100% Roussanne. From 70+-year-old Roussanne, locally called "Roussette", planted on the south-facing limestone marl slope of Texier's Brézème vineyard. Planted in 1936, they are farmed organically and harvested by hand. Unlike the 2015 vintage, in which half of the bunches were vinified in amphora with a couple of months of maceration, in 2016 Texier went to all direct-press. The fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and without sulfur; the wine is aged in a mix of old barrels and clay amphoras. It is bottled without fining or filtration and with small 30 mg/liter dose of sulfur. Per Eric T: "2016 is a classic vintage, lots of minerality and depth". Fewer than 100 cases produced.
