The Fleurie wine-making is traditional - whole clusters are kept, which leads to a semi-carbonic maceration as the juice settles in the bottom of the tanks. After fermentation is completed in stainless, the wines are moved to the cellar for aging in old, wooden tonneau barrels. The Fleurie has a piquant raspberry fruit and very soft, dusty tannins. It's stunning young and will also cellar well, for those who like to wait.

"Deep magenta. Aromas of ripe red berries, cherry and rose; a peppery nuance adds spicy lift. Juicy and seamless in the mouth, offering sappy red fruit flavors complemented by suggestions of allspice and candied flowers. Shows very good clarity and solid thrust on a long, smooth finish framed by discreet tannins."

" The 2019 Château de Fleurie has continued to unfold with style and grace since the last time I tasted it. As I noted in the late winter, the wine is marvelously floral and elegant in this vintage, offering up scents of red and black cherries, gamebird, a fine base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke and an array of floral tones in the upper register that recall peonies and violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, precise and nicely sappy at the core, with a fine foundation of suave tannins, tangy acids and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. This bottling has a fine track record for cellaring and the 2019 will be no exception, but this is already quite delicious to drink, so it will not be easy to leave it alone in the cellar! "
