Grillo IGT Terre Siciliane "Vignaverde"
100% Grillo. From organically farmed estate vines in the Samperi contrada of Marsala, picked the earliest of all for De Bartoli's "Vignaverde" or "green vine" wine. The vines are 30 years old, planted on sandy, limestone-rich loam and trained in both Guyot and alberello. The bunches are hand-harvested and gently pressed; the must is naturally settled for 48 hours, followed by a spontaneous fermentation to dryness with native yeasts and a tiny bit of sulfur in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged on its fine lees in steel for 6 months and bottled as IGT Terre Sicliiane. Totaly sulfur is moderate at around 40 mg/liter.
