"They harvested the grapes for the 2020 La Cautiva early because it was a warm year and they wanted to avoid over-ripeness and high alcohol in the wine. As a result, they achieved a wine that has 13.5% alcohol and is balanced, fresh and elegant. It expresses what they are looking for very good acidity in the wines. The élevage was one year in a 3,000-liter foudre that was first used for the 2019 vintage and one more year in used 225-liter oak barrels. This part of La Cautiva delivers wines that are very floral and aromatic—violets and lavender—very showy and expressive. The palate is medium to full-bodied with very fine tannins and a long, dry finish. 4,000 bottles and some larger formats were filled in June 2022."
