Morey-Saint-Denis "Clos des Ormes"

2014

6/750

These vineyards fall half under the appellation of “village” and half under the appellation of “1er Cru”, but all carry the name “le Clos des Ormes”. The upper part of the parcel—the 1er Cru part—is limestone and chalky-clay soil from the Jurassic period. As you descend lower on the slope to the part classified as village, you find more limestone fossils as well as marl. They farm a total of .035 hectares here; the vines are 70 years old on average.

1,000 bottles produced annually.
