Nosiola Cuvée Buster
SOLD OUT FOR THE VINTAGE
100% Nosiola. Foradori farms 2 hectares of this ancient local variety in the Fontanasanta vineyard. Normally, this wine is bottled after approximately 8 months on the skins in Spanish clay tinajas. But in the 2017 vintage, things took a slightly different turn. A July hailstorm wreaked havoc on the Nosiola. Production was reduced by half and additionally, some of the tinajas headed in a different, more volatile direction than normal after the requisite period of time; so that anfora-aged wine was racked into an old barrel for further consideration. Said barrel was essentially forgotten for a few months and rediscovered in December 2018 and deemed worthy of bottling. Upon tasting it, they and the importer Louis/Dressner decided to designate it "Cuvée Buster", an honorific reserved for very rare cases where a Dressner grower comes up with a unique twist on one of their usual wines (for the full and colorful story of this special "classification", click here).
