Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses

Clay and limestone; more clayey at the bottom of the parcel and very calcareous at the top. Elevation mid-slope.

Vintage notes from the domaine: "A precocious spring led to an early growing cycle. Unfortunately a cold snap set upon the flowering, which took away hopes of good yields. Vines were then hit by hail on the 28th of June the storm fell from Meursault, corton, lowering yet again the quantity of grapes. We harvested from the 18th to 26th september, with half the normal crop though picking at perfect ripeness. The reds have a great aromatic complexity and silky tannins, whites have freshness and a density. The wines are tasting very well at the moment."

"The 2017 Pernand-Vereglesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru Blanc has a beautiful, comely bouquet, scents of freshly sliced white peach intermingling with pineapple chunks and a hint of apricot. The poised, harmonious palate is very well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity and a waxy, almost white-Rhône-like finish that lingers. Excellent."
