Petit Manseng Sierra Foothills
100% Petit Menseng from the Fenaughty vineyard in El Dorado county. Vines are planted in volcanic soils at 2600 feet elevation. The grapes were lightly foot-crushed and then lightly pressed into tanks for fermentation (wild, of course!). 2016 zipped through both primary and secondary fermentation, in stark contrast to previous vintages where the fermentation would lumber on for 6 months. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration in late Spring 2017. 20 ppm of sulfites added. 80 cases made. 13% alc. Tasting notes: The wine has a unique signature, showing guava and apricot when first opened. Medium to full bodied, with powerful flavors of lemon curd, lime zest, a very bold but delicious, fruity-driven acidity, and a very long finish.
