Pinot Noir "Gap's Crown" Sonoma Coast
The Gap's Crown vineyard is at the base of Sonoma Moutain, and is part of the proposed Petaluma Gap appellation. Black Kite has 23 rows planted with the Dijon 777 clone. They make approximately 250 cases a year of this bottling.
The grapes were harvested in the early morning hours and transported immediately to the winery, where they were destemmed and cold soaked for 48 hours and then fermented, with three punchdowns daily. After fermentation, the wine rested 11 months in a mix of new (50%) and one-year old French oak.
