Pinot Noir "Jardin d'Eden"

2019
France
Alsace

An outstanding, limited Pinot Noir, from an exceptional limestone plot in Sigolsheim that sits just next to the grand cru Mambourg. Charles recently planted Pinot here, using grafts from the Clos des Epeneaux vineyard in Burgundy. He planted densely one vine per every meter and he plows by horse. In 2019, the wine was made with 100% whole clusters. Hand harvested, fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in oak barrels.

"Intensely savory with notes of candied orange, clove and cinnamon, this is a full-bodied and well-structured pinot noir that certainly doesn’t lack power, but some may find a bit on the weighty side. Certainly has some years ahead of it, maybe even its best years. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold."
