Pinot Noir Johan Vineyard

Located within the new Van Duzer Corridor AVA, Johan is an 85-acre certified-Biodynamic vineyard.  The vineyard, planted on calcareous sedimentary soils, is kept quite cool by the maritime, coastal winds that are flowing constantly through the corridor.

This was Brianne's last Pinot pick of 2015 as the site ripens later than most of the Willamette Valley, due to proximity to the coast and the Van Duzer corridor. The fruit was brought in, partially destemmed (25% whole cluster) and fermented without the use of lab created yeast or sulfur. It was aged in 15% new French oak and 85% neutral for 18 months. It was racked twice and bottled unfiltered and unfined on April 14, 2017.

"Brilliant red. Energetic, spice-accented red berry and cherry scents are complemented by subtle vanilla, floral and smoky mineral notes. Silky and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated raspberry, cherry compote and rose pastille flavors that become more lively with aeration. Supple tannins sneak in slowly on a long, floral-tinged finish that hangs on with strong tenacity."
