R17 VDF Rouge
Gamay/Cabernet Franc/Syrah/Grenache. The name and make-up of the wine are adjusted yearly to reflect the vintage, hence the "R17" moniker for the 2017 vintage. The 2016 "R16" was a blend of local Loire Gamay, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, but in Olivier lost most of his own crop to frost in 2017. So half of "R17" is his Gamay and Cabernet Franc, with the other half being made up of Syrah and Grenache from Roussillon pals Loïc Roure of Domaine du Possible and Edoard Lafitte of Le Bout du Monde. They get prominent play on the striking label as a result! As for all of Olivier's reds: whole-cluster carbonic maceration, natural yeasts, no sulfur, no filtration.
