Riesling GG Marienburg Fahrley-Terrasen

Grapes for this cuvée are harvested on the steepest terraces of the Fahrlay grand cru, a volcanic formation of blue slate that is hundreds of millions of years old. The Terrassen (terraces) cuvee is always slightly "sweeter" than the GG from here.

"From almost 100-year-old vines on blue slate and macerated for about 18 hours, the 2016 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG "Fahrlay Terrassen" shows a clear, fresh and very precise nose of crushed, weathered, smooth slate plates. Full-bodied and lush, with very fine tannins and lingering salinity, this is a generous and super ripe Riesling from an old, steep, terraced vineyard. The finish is super long and complex but sensual, rich and very fine, everything at the same time. This is impressive in its concentration, finesse and ripeness. Bottled in January; tasted in February 2018. Just 12% alcohol."
