Riesling GG Marienburg Rothenpfad RESERVE

2018
Germany
Mosel

The Big Red One. The Rothenpfad interestingly is the terminus of the iron- and copper-rich red-colored geological formation that starts in the Saar, pops up at the Ürziger Würzgarten, Erdener Prälat and Enkircher Steffensberg sites in the Middle Mosel, and ends at Pünderich. Clemens’ GGs and Reserve wines from here, like all wines made from such soil, are pungent and exotic with pronounced ripeness and great staying power.

"A most unusual combination of buttercream with dried-peach and pear aromas. With aeration, the latter gains ever more the upper hand, and plenty of fresh and candied ginger arrives, too. The ripeness and textural richness are wrapped around a very serious structure and the interplay of these things is crucial for the very deep finish, which plumbs the depths. Bottled after 28 months maturation on the full lees without filtration. Drink or hold."
