This 1/3 hectare vineyard is located at the very south of the appellation, at a fifty meters distance from Romanée-Conti. The block is ploughed by horse to preserve these old vines, which average 90 years of age. The soil is primariy dark clay. Vinified with 100% whole cluster. Aged in 30% new oak. Structured, spicey, and dense with herbal notes and a deft freshness. Whole clusters give very fine tannins

"The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, which comprises three-and-a-half barrels this year, has a highly perfumed, floral bouquet with pressed iris petals and incense infusing the intense black fruit. The medium-bodied palate features slightly chalky tannins. Very fresh and lively, with a powerful, mineral-driven finish that belies the warm vintage. This a cool, calm and collected Romanée-Saint-Vivant."
