Sancerre Blanc "Le Grand Roc"

2019
France
Loire

This cuvée comes from 62-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines with a south-southwest exposure, on a soil composed of silica and clay soil.  Part of the wine is vinified in cement and “inox” tanks, and another part in new oak barrels; the wine is aged for 10 months on the fine lees, with bâtonnage.

"Tightly wound and subdued at first, this broods with zesty grapefruit and peach flavors that turn silky on the dense palate, with notes of sweet bay leaf and white pepper. Though supple and round, this is grounded by a firm mineral core and a quinine note on the very lengthy finish. A stunning Sancerre. Drink now through 2030."
