Savennières "Gaudrets"

2018
France
Loire

Gaudrets comes from several southeastern-facing parcels totaling 1.85-hectare, all planted on a plateau of black schist and fine sand above the village of Savennières. Hand harvested, direct press, natural yeast fermentation and aged for 13 months in oak vats and 400L French oak barrels.

"Alluring, with a hint of matchstick up front that quickly blows off, followed by quince, white raspberry, verbena and green almond flavors supported by the electric acidity cutting through the suave texture. Mineral and quinine accents linger on the finish. Charming now, but give this a few more years. Best from 2022 through 2033. 903 cases made."
