Savigny-les-Beaune "Aux Fournaux"

2020
France
Burgundy

Starting with the 2018 vintage, the domaine chose to blend the 1er Cru Fourneaux into the village wine and it’s now labeled Savigny-les-Beaune Fournaux, after the site. The Villages level has always come from the Fournaux parcel, which sits just next to the 1er Cru. Claude and François like how the Villages and 1er Cru tastes blended, giving the village level wine more density and complexity. Fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged in barrel for 18 months, 10% new oak.

"Offering up aromas of raspberries and plums mingled with sweet spices and petals, the 2020 Savigny-lès Beaune Aux Fourneaux is medium to full-bodied, seamless and concentrated, with tangy acids and a long, fragrant finish. As readers may remember, this cuvée derives from a single parcel, two-thirds of which is classified as premier cru."

"An ultra-fresh nose features notes of both red and dark currant that enjoy pretty top notes of violet and rose petal plus a touch of earth. There is excellent precision to the super-sleek and precise middle weight flavors that terminate in a balanced finale that is less rustic than usual and with only a touch of rusticity. This offers especially good quality for its level and is recommended"
