Sedella (Green Label)
This tiny production wine comes from the vineyard “Las Viñuelas de la Axarquía” in Sierras de Málaga Denominación Origen. The soil is composed of a type of slate called Gorge. Very eroded, grey shale with low organic content; extremely loose and rocky, the water drains quickly from the surface to the root. The roots of the vines are forced to reach down, deep into the soil to reach moisture.
Old vines planted in 1940 of the native grape varieties Romé tinta, Garnacha tinta, Jaén tinta and loose strains of other local varieties. Hand-harvested, fermented using native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks. Wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in french oak barrels and in cement and clay amphorae; aged 14 months in second-hand French oak (Tronçais and Nevers).
