"Sorella" Champoux Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills

Sorella is a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from the oldest block of vines (planted in 1972) at Champoux Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The first vintage of Sorella was 1994 and was the first blend that Chris made, which eventually led him to make blends for all his single vineyard wines. He considers this his top bottling and has no problem opening an old bottle next to a first growth Bordeaux, of which he has many in his cellar.

The 2014 Sorella is 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec. It was aged for 18 months in about 40% new French oak. 612cs produced.

"The deep inky colored 2014 Sorella checks in as a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend that includes 11% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with tiny amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec. Cassis, smoked earth, graphite and chocolate all emerge from this rich, full-bodied, concentrated, gorgeously layered beauty that has sweet tannin, beautiful purity and a great finish. This is a sensational wine, and it’s going to be interesting to see how this stacks up with the 2007 and 2012 at maturity. 612 cases."
