Vino da Uve Apassate "Vino della Volta" (2007)

100% Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. 30-50-year-old vines. The bunches are harvested at normal ripeness and in perfect health, then dried in the sun for 5-15 days, depending on the vintage. They are pressed in a small vertical hand press, fermented naturally, and aged in used barrique for 3 years, followed by 2 more years in bottle. This wine is in fact the vintage-2007 "Vigna della Volta" IGT Colli Piacentini Malvasia Passito, but the remaining bottles at La Stoppa had some sediment and so were decanted and re-bottled under a new classification, name and label.

"The NV Vigna di Volta is sweetly seductive with notes of apricot, mango and peach preserves complemented by fresh mint, chamomile and hints of vanilla bean. It is silky in texture, yet not weighty in feel, traversing both savory and sweet with a vivid display of sun-tea mixed with a spritz of lemon and raw honey. This is persistent yet fresh, as it cleans up beautifully, both juicy and floral, leaving the palate begging for another sip. The Vigna di Volta is produced using sun-dried Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes from one of La Stoppa’s oldest vineyards. It’s stunning."
