Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Chaumes

The vineyard is just below Malconsorts and La Tache. Arnoux-Lachaux's covers the top of the hill to bottom, giving complexity and a true representaiton of the site. Vines average 35-40 years-old. The wines are aged in 40% new oak.

"The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru comes from the middle of a vineyard that traverses from top to bottom of the incline; this vintage contains around 50% whole bunches. It has a gorgeous bouquet with red currant, cranberry and light mineral notes, hints of bergamot and vervain tea emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannin, fine acidity and quite an insistent grip. The salinity floods through this Vosne-Romanée on the finish. Superb."

"Once again, there is plenty of floral influence to the generously spiced red berry fruit aromas that are laced with violet and lavender nuances. The medium-bodied flavors are rich to the point of opulence while flashing a highly seductive mouthfeel before culminating in a firm and dusty finish. This needs to develop better depth to fully merit my projected range but the underlying material appears to be up to the task."
