Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts

One of the best Premier Cru in Vosne-Romanée, this site is directly above La Romanée Conti and Richebourg. Because of the steepness of the slope, it must be farmed by hand. Berthaut's vines are in the middle and bottom part of Petits Monts, planted in 1919, 1934, 1949, 1964, and 2008. 20% whole cluster fermentation, with 40% new oak used during aging.

Very limited.

"Matured in 40% new oak and with 20% stems, the 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts 1er Cru was showing a touch of reduction on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with very good backbone. A little stocky for a Petits-Monts but shows impressive sapidity toward the long finish. Patience is needed here."
