Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Suchots

This vineyard is less than half a hectare in an exceptional spot, circled by Romanée-Saint-Vivant and the Richebourg to the south, and by the Echézeaux to the north. The average age of the vines on this vineyard is between 60 and 70 years old.

The wine is fermented 100% whole-cluster and aged in 30% new oak.

"The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has quite a reticent bouquet at first and demands a lot of coaxing. Eventually it reveals a mixture of red and black fruit, mixed with potpourri and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, hints of espresso infusing the red fruit, and the 100% whole bunches lending a touch of Moroccan spice toward the long finish. This is a Suchots with pedigree."

"A wonderfully spicy and once again intensely floral nose combines both red and dark currant scents with those of sandalwood and Asian-style tea. The highly seductive medium weight flavors brim with dry extract yet there is no lack of vibrancy suffusing the youthfully austere and decidedly structured finish that displays outstanding depth and persistence. Patience advised."
