"...very fine indeed, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, rich spices, grilled game and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with an ample, layered mid-palate, succulent acids and a long finish."

"The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières has an intriguing bouquet of red fruit, baking powder and flinty undertones. The palate is slightly confit on the entry with raspberry preserve and strawberry. The fruit profile is darker than the Village Cru with more solidity. Don't under-estimate the ageing potential of this wine."

"This is at once slightly spicier and a bit riper as well than the straight Vosne with its pretty and layered array of various red berries and floral scents. As is usually the case the bold flavors are bigger, richer, more concentrated and more powerful if perhaps not quite as refined on the strikingly long if mildly austere finale. This is an excellent villages and again, provided that you have at least some patience, well worth checking out."
