Luzia de Ripa Txakoli


The blend is 90% Hondarrabi Zuri (aka Petit Corbu,) and 10% Izpiriotza Txikia (aka Petit Manseng.)  Sourced from the single vineyard Larrimbe, meaning “my mother’s vineyard,” a fitting name for a parcel that has been handed down from mother to daughter for over four generations. The label speaks to this maternal connection. 

Farming here is lutte raisonnée; harvest usually takes place in October, due to the Atlantic’s continental influence.   The grapes are destemmed and pressed just minutes after being harvested and then cooled to 50° F.  Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, the temperature is regulated not to surpass 62° F, and lasts 15-20 days, after which the wine is aged on its lees for about 6 months. 

Production is around 1600 cases.
