He is leading a vanguard of young growers in Germany pursuing sustainability and eco-friendly farming--and certifying organic himself in 2020. Cannot wait to taste his insanely great 2018s today at @bowlerwine via the cosmic power of Zoom. An edited recording will be made available soon. Meantime, here are some gorgeous shots of life and work at Gunderloch, the crown jewel of the Rheinhessen for over 130 years.

  • ID: 18104905141143722 Look how our friends @compagnienyc are celebrating!!! * * Repost from @compagnienyc Cinco de Mayo may look a bit different this year, but that doesn't mean you can't mix up your own mezcal margaritas. One of our favorite discoveries within the last several months, Noble Coyote is a premium mezcal from the cradle of mezcal the village San Luis Amatln in Oaxaca, Mexico. Every bottle of Noble Coyote identifies the Maestro Mezcalero that made the mezcal, the village in which it was made, the type of agave used, and the lot and bottle number. This is a great sipping mezcal, but also makes a killer margarita. Our favorite recipe is 2 oz. Noble Coyote Mezcal Espadin, 3/4 oz. Demerara simple syrup, 3/4oz. lime juice, shake and strain into a salted rim glass. Throw in half of a muddled jalapeo for an extra kick -Salud! Available for delivery // link in bio // order by 4pm for same day NYC delivery. #cincodemayo #mezcal #mezcalmargarita #compagnietogo

  • ID: 18007473955285200 We are very excited to welcome Eric Hamacher of Hamacher Wines to the Bowler portfolio! In a way, it is a welcoming back because David Bowler sold the wines in the late 90s during his days at Jeroboam. After 25 years, Eric Hamacher can proudly call his winery "the slowest growing winery in America" at 2000 cases production per year. Elegance, texture, and distinctiveness are the key elements to what makes these wines so special. This is Willamette Valley Pinot Noir at its finest.

  • ID: 17876153386621465 A fun look at the vineyard of @cadimat.wine featuring 2 of our favorite things, rocks, and dogs. Ok, ok! we also like Curro Barreno, organic viticulture and tractors... * * This is roughly what Curro says in the video: "These are our vineyards at the Paraje Andrinal and we are starting to work the soil now. One of the most important characteristics of this vineyard is that its soils are made of red granite. This is one of highest altitude zones inside the paraje Andrinoso, where there is a small rocky formation.. you can see here a stone that makes the soils of our vineyards in this place, red granite, more technically called episenieta.

  • ID: 18083629675170262 From our friends @winklerandsamuels : all this great information about @cantina_mongarda ! Mongarda | Colli Trevigiani Col Fiondo | Organic | Veneto, Italy . The Mongarda story began in 1978, when Bruno Tormena decided to dedicate himself full-time to the career of vignaiolo. As a youngster he learned the art of vine cultivation while working with his grandfather in family vineyards in the locality of Mongarda, from which the estate takes its name. Bruno transmitted his passion to his son, Martino, who has run the estate since 2011. Today, Mongarda has 10 hectares of vines, spread between the villages of Col San Martino, Farra di Soligo, Miane, and Valdobbiadene. This is the heart of the Valdobbiadene-Conegliano Prosecco Superiore zone, and Mongardas vineyards are on extreme slopes with old vines and poor, rocky soils, a situation which forces them to be worked manually. . The main varietal is, of course, Glera, but the Tormena family has also kept the local heirlooms of Perera, Verdiso, Bianchetta, and Boschera, which are interspersed through the parcels and co-harvested and co-fermented with the Glera. The vines, some dating back to 1950, are pampered: no weedkillers and biodynamic compost of grape skins, vine cuttings, and manure from grass-fed cows is made in-house. In the cellar, the objective is to let the vintage and vineyards speak. . Grapes are pressed whole cluster, softly enough to avoid extracting bitterness. All primary fermentations are spontaneous. The use of dosage is not formulaic, but is adjusted according to each vintage and disgorgement. Translated: delicious sparkling wine from a family estate that treats their vineyards well and shepherds the winemaking process with minimal interference. . Its bubbly, crisp light with notes of citrus, green apple, pear and lemon zest! . Give us a call (716)235-8121 DM or email bonjour@winklerandsamuels.com wed be happy to bring some out to you car or deliver it right to you door!

  • ID: 17872601449654408 We could use your help! The State of Pennsylvania has closed all wine and spirits sales. If the PLCB returns approximately $185M to the general fund each year, and 4.5% of that comes from SOs (per their latest annual report), then Special Orders generate $8.325M per year (~$23,000 per day) for the General Fund. The PLCB decided to arbitrarily shutdown SOs on March 16th. That decision, then, has already cost the state of PA nearly $500,000 in tax revenue for the General Fund and cost thousands of jobs for those that work in restaurants selling wine-to-go and the small wine distributors that service those licensees through the SO program. . Both restaurant licensees selling wine-to-go and wine distributors are already considered essential by the Governor. The PLCB refusing direct delivery of SOs is shortsighted at best and in violation of Act 39 at worst. . Please consider signing this petition to allow direct delivery of SO wine in PA. . LINK IN BIO

  • ID: 18082748182194921 Our friends at Domaine du Closel sent us these lovely pictures and note. Spring is here with all the flowers, the scents, the birds singing, but also the frost. We were very close to a catastrophy last week. Monday the 30th was the coldest night with minus 1,4 Celsius at 7:00 am Tuesday morning. I enclose a picture of the early Tuesday morning when we lit the candles, one of the part of the vineyard waiting to be replanted with a view over Savennires and one of the house reflecting in the Loire arm that flows in the park to offer you sort of a virtual walk through our beautiful landscape. • ID: 17906718223439104 Zoom class with Patrick Piuze coming up, Friday, April 10th. See @somegoodwine for details. *** Repost from @somegoodwine At Some Good Wine, we have been huge fans of Patrick Piuze for some time and are one of his top retail sellers of his wines up and down. The 2018s are a fascinating mix. Overall, they are round and wholesome with the always evolving terroir distinctions. Razor-sharp but flirty with their acid and avoiding the mistake of killing the fruit and juicy roundness that when done right, should all come together and make the dimples move into the eyes with carelessness. Good Chablis has a mind of its own and can easily exist as a Chardonnay of exquisite being and uniqueness like the boys down south and when you see the QPR (quality-price ratio) there is no reason not to be a Chabliever. (cross between Chablis and believer which I coined a year ago and will use it until something terrible happens to Justin Bieber that makes it no longer funny or relevant.) But wouldn't it be amazing to hear Patrick speak about his wines from his cave in Burgundy, as you sip them from the comfort of your own home? For better or for worse, this could be you. Next Friday the 10th, Patrick Piuze has been gracious enough to share his hectic schedule with us to give us his thoughts on his winemaking techniques and insights into the 2018 vintage of Chablis. He will guide us through the challenging complexities of Chablis terroir as we sip the following wines: 2018 Patrick Piuze Chablis Terroir de Chablis: $29.99 2018 Piuze, Chablis "Terroir de Fleys:" $39.99 2018 Patrick Piuze Chablis Terroir de Fye: $31.99 2018 Patrick Piuze Chablis La Grande Valle: $39.99 2018 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon Minots: $64.99 For $199.99 you will get sent a package of the 5 wines, free shipping, tax-free and of course, a free class on Zoom. Purchase your ticket by Monday (to guarantee the wines arrive on time). Link in bio
