  • ID: 18126416968031740 An important read from @ericasimov We all need and love these good values, and tariffs threaten our livelihood and consumer choice. As promised, 20 wines under $20, all red edition. But times are turbulent. Who knows how long these will be available to Americans? Link in profile.

  • ID: 17938556182328541 We dont have better words than @marinvino on the beautiful Chablis from Julien Brocard Biodynamic farming in Chablis is a rare thing because of the difficult soil and unforgiving climate the vines are highly susceptible to powdery mildew and rot; esca, which killls vine wood, limestone causing iron deficiency in the leaves, etc.) There are only a handful certified biodynamic producers (Vincent et Rne Dauvissat, Catherine Moreau, Co-op La Chablisienne..) and Julien Brocard, who launched his own label in 2012, is one of them. In 1973, the year Julien was born, his father Jean-Marc Brocard planted the first vines in Prhy, just to the south-west of Chablis. Since then the domaine has been one of the major leading Chablisienne forces. (Olivier de Moor, Clotilde Davenne, and Patrick Piuze all spent time at Brocard before going on to establish their own wineries.) On the following page are Thierry Guyots thoughts on biodynamics and sensibilities around it...He was sharing his own experience with Leroy, Laflaive, Lafarge, Lafon..) since converting to biodynamic way of farming/living in mid 80s. It resonates... Anyhow, 17 Les Preuses gave me goose bumps, wow, the sheer power of this wine! Its both fat and muscular yet so fine and elegant with beautiful peachy, flowery nose and chalk with fresh acidity saline and subtle spice. This will go the distance if you have a strong will Impressive stuffin the meantime his Boissonneuse and Pettit Chablis for the patient ones:) #winegeek #winetime #winetasting #winepairing #winestagram #sommelier #instawine #winepic #winetravel #foodandwine #sommlife #winewinewine #grapemagic #sommlife #chablislover #lespreuses #chardonnay #kimmeridgian #burgundy

  • ID: 18094894795191534 Another terrific tasting note from @cara.rutherford ! Chiara Penati and her husband Michele Conoscenti farm 7 hectares of vineyards organically and biodynamically in the Tortona hills of Piemonte. Grapes are from 2 hectares of north facing vineyards Rampone and Simonelli, planted in 1996 and 2016 at 300 meters in elevation, with silty calcareous soils. Grapes are whole cluster pressed, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 8 months ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel. Gold in colour, with aromas of lemon, green apple, hay, wet wool, clay minerality and white flowers. Racy acidity glosses lemon, yellow apple, wildflowers, citrus zest and a drizzle of honey. Grapefruit and chalk minerality linger between each sunny sip. Silky and vibrant. 100% Timorasso 14% Alcohol _ Oltretorrente Timorasso Colli Tortonesi DOC 2017 _ #vinobiologico #vinnaturel #biodynamicwine #vinnature #vinipiemontesi #organicwine #vinvivant #piemontewine #vinoitaliano #drinkbetterwine #winestudy #italianwinescholar #winereview #winelabel #vinobianco #italianwinelover #collitortonesi #timorassowine #instavino #winestagram #instawine #timorassoderthona #oltretorrentevini #caravino

  • ID: 18005686942276982 Weve had a bit of encouraging news this week, but were not out of the woods yet! We are still anxiously waiting for news on the tariff threat for the Airbus/Boeing dispute. *** This has already put a 25% tariff on still wines under 14% alc. from France, Spain and Germany (along with other specialty foods and cheeses) BUT could increase to 100% tariffs on ALL wines from ALL of the EU! We expect an update on Feb 17th, but every 6 months, the decision will be reviewed and could increase tariffs again. *** The public comments window has already closed, but you can still reach out to your elected representatives to bring attention to this matter.

  • ID: 17873597971535436 If you didnt know, wild agave Tobala is one of the most prized of all agaves and is often called the King of Agaves in Mexico. Why? Because it only grows wild, is extremely rare, and it takes 12-15 years to fully mature. Now let me tell you, the resulting spirit is intensely aromatic, unique, extremely rare and crazy good! . Del Que Toma el Cardenal or The One the Priest Drinks Tobala Silvestre - This delicious Priest Juice Tobala has a buttery nose with hints of salty aromas. Very sweet on the palate with notes of mango, burnt tangerine, caramelized sugar and spice, with a long, extra smooth finish. Like I said before, this is crazy good! Thanks @56wine for highlighting such a treat!
