There is a certain sense of warmth and comfort to be found in enjoyment of a textured, velvety red. This bottling is by talented Stphan Vedeau from his Northern Rhne project named after his mother, Jeannine Boutin. An elegant, terroir driven wine with impeccable balance and sense of place as opposed to heavily extracted and alcoholic Syrahs that make your teeth hurt. It takes an introspective person with talent, sensibility and confidence to do less and allow this to happen. And yeah, absence of ego:) Not as sauvage as recently posted Cornas, this Hermitage is more feminine in style showing currant, coffee, black raspberry and olive with flower and cracked pepper. Lovely texture and sweet tannins.
