Batterieberg is a steep monopole within the Zeppwingert vineyard (see photo #2); along with Ellergrub and Steffensberg, these sites were among the highest-ranked vineyards according to the 1897 Mosel-Weinbau-Karte, the Prussian viticultural tax map of the Mosel. Immich-Batterieberg is the most important estate working today in these grand crus and is mainly responsible for their restoration and preservation.
