Aided and abetted by their husbands Walter Anselma (married to Enrica) and Luciano Pira (married to Maura) their holdings include approximately eight hectares mostly in Serralunga and parcels in the crus of Prap, Cerretta and Broglio. Schiavenza is local dialect for sharecropper or vineyard worker. This name was chosen not for any sense of irony; it reflects the respect the family has for the hard work and labor intensive ways used to make wine here and in the region. The vineyard work is strictly organic (has been for years) and of course, only spontaneous yeasts are ever used.
