ID: 18010236112257342 More fantastic notes from @marinvino ! _______________________________ La Stoppa is an artisanal winery located in Piacenza at the western edge of Emilia-Romagna (closer to Milan and Genoa then its capital of Bologna) with 30 ha of vines cultivated organically in warm climate and poor heavy clay soil at relatively low altitude. Elena Pantaleoni & Nico Sciacakitano are non-conformists (their wine carries IGT on the label), they dont believe that bureaucratic controls of DOC/G system have any capacity to evaluate the quality of their wine since most mass produced DOC/G wines have little connection with the terroir. Ageno, named after original founder of the estate, is a blend of 60% Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and 40% Ortugo & Trebbiano with 30 days of skin maceration without sulfur - quite possibly one of the most captivating orange wines! Not for everyone and most certainly meant to go with food; the wine is grippy with phenolic edge but fascinating floral, ripe peach, sour apple, black tea, crunchy red berry fruit and spice. And texture, gorgeous!! Barbera 10. is their current release showing soft stewed cherry fruit with hints of cedar as it opens up to aromas of anise, plum and pencil lead with darker fruit and savory mineral earthy palate.
