The 2020 vintage of Pur Xarel-lo is the current release from Celler Pardas. The wine is made from forty year-old vines planted on clay and limestone soils, with the wine raised in fifty percent new oak demi-muids and fifty percent concrete eggs. The wine tips the scales at 12.5 percent octane and, as Xarel-lo ages so beautifully, the wine is wide open and in its plateau of peak drinkability today, offering up a complex bouquet of tart orange, breadfruit, beeswax, lemongrass, chalky soil tones and just a hint of oak. On the palate the wine is deep, complex, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with fine depth of fruit, lovely soil undertow, good acids and a long, focused and soil-driven finish. This wine really has fine backend lift and grip and years and years of life still ahead of it! 2025-2040. "
