Domaine des Tourterelles
- Burgundy, France
Since 1946, two families united by a common passion have cultivated their vines in two appellations: Mâcon-Villages (nine hectares) and Viré-Clessé (thirty-four hectares). The Gariller-Gaillard family sold wines to the local co-op until 2014, when they built a winery and cellar. The father was the managing director of the local co-op and wanted to start a winery for his son. It was a big leap because once you leave the co-op, you cannot go back. They are fortunate to work with some very old vines that have been in the family for generations. Valentin Gaillard is very excited and proud to be bottling and handling all of the vineyard management. The farming is sustainable and they are in the process of getting the HVE certification. The cellar is gravity-fed and all fermentation and aging takes place in stainless steel tanks. The name of the domain comes from the group of turtledoves that often pays a friendly visit to the winery.
