Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru La Coutiere

France
Burgundy
2021

Beautiful plot of .75 hectare planted with 60 year-old vines facing east at an altitude of 340m in the town of Ladoix-Serrigny. The name Coutière comes from the word Côte because it is located on a sloping ground. Reddish-brown soil composed of many limestone-flint debris. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new oak and 70% barrels of 1 to 2 wines).

"A remarkably silky wine for Aloxe-Corton and for the 2021 vintage, this is at once deep and delicate with forest berry fruit and just a touch of earthiness. The generous fine tannins carry the finish a long way out. Drink or hold."

"This is quite airy, indeed even perfumed, with its elegant and exceptionally pretty nose of essence of wild cherry, soft earth and a background hint of star anise. The polished, delicious and solidly concentrated middleweight flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the lightly stony, austere and linear finish that displays excellent length. Lovely."
