"2021 Costières de Nîmes “Terre d’Argence”- Château Mourgues du Grès The 2021 Terre d’Argence from Château Mourgues du Grès is made from significantly older vines than the Galets Rouges bottling. The cépages is seventy percent syrah and fifteen percent each of grenache and mourvèdre, with the syrah vines over forty-five years of age. It is fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in a combination of concrete vats and old oak vats, with five percent of the cuvée raised in Burgundy casks. The 2021 comes in listed at 14.5 percent octane and offers up a deep and nicely ripe nose of black raspberries, cassis, pepper, smoked venison, coffee bean, stony soil tones and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely plush on the attack, with a superb core, good soil foundation, buried tannins and fine length and grip on the focused, balanced, complex and gently warm finish"
