Fleurie

Beaujolais
2022

The Fleurie wine-making is traditional - whole clusters are kept, which leads to a semi-carbonic maceration as the juice settles in the bottom of the tanks. After fermentation is completed in stainless, the wines are moved to the cellar for aging in old, wooden tonneau barrels. The Fleurie has a piquant raspberry fruit and very soft, dusty tannins. It's stunning young and will also cellar well, for those who like to wait.

"The 2022 Fleurie from the Château de Fleurie is an outstanding example of this vintage. The wine is deep, pure and sappy on the nose, offering up a superb blend of red and black cherries, red plums, pigeon, dark soil tones, a touch of whole clusters, violets, peonies and a dollop of fresh thyme in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, focused, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with excellent soil signature and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, complex and still youthfully structured finish. This is one of the more suave examples of 2022 Cru Beaujolais that one is going to come across, but it will still want at least a generous handful of years in the cellar to properly soften up its tannins prior to drinking. Fine juice that comes in at fourteen percent octane in this vintage"
