"A new submission, the Tenuta del Nicchio 2023 Le 2 Ville del Nicchio, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Ciliegiolo, takes a playful and whimsical look at coastal Tuscan tradition by pairing Bordeaux varieties with an unknown indigenous grape best known for its bright, cherry-driven profile. The wine leans savory, however, showing dark fruit with hints of bacon fat and white pepper. The Ciliegiolo remains more suggestive than overt, with the international varieties taking the lead. There is a faintly exotic note that arrives from left field, and the bouquet would benefit from a touch more lift and freshness. It is partially fermented in barrique (80%) with the remainder in stainless steel. "
