"Jean Manciat is rare in the Mâconnais in that he harvests all of his vineyards by hand, rather than machine, which makes a huge difference in the ultimate quality of the resulting wines. His 2023 Mâcon-Charnay is fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in stainless steel. It offers up a simply superb bouquet of peach, apple, almond, a good base of soil, citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with excellent depth of fruit at the core, fine soil undertow and grip, a lovely spine of acidity and a long, beautifully balanced and vibrant finish. This is fairly ripe at fourteen percent octane, but it is fine juice! 2025-2035. "
